"another lease on life"

Ok... so it's a saying we've heard hundreds of times... or it seems that way.  It's not a saying you usually here a lot, but I've heard it said several times today.

And it got me thinking. Lease... how appropriate. Borrowing. My life is borrowed.  From who?  God, duh. But that's beside the point.

My point, and it's late so there's no rant just getting straight to it, is that every minute we have is a gift and lease from God. One day I'm going to have to take my life back to him and account for everything. So far, the good things I've done to make Him proud are greatly out numbered by the things I've done that have hurt Him.  That's gotta change.  I have to change.

Every day I'm given so many different opportunities to show God's love. The song goes "they will know we are Christians by our love"

Not "they will know we are Christians by our friends" or "by our appearance" or "by our job".  It's our love that shows people we don't know that we are Christians. It's our compassion. Our willingness to help.

I have to get involved. Surely with a church as large as mine, there is a ministry I could be a part of that would work with my work schedule...

I was in choir practice tonight for the first time in MONTHS. But I had to skip out on work to be there. Not a good way to keep my job, but an excellent way to feel connected. Even if only for an hour and a half... Right now I'm a sleeping part of the body of Christ. I had no feeling. But I'm slowly starting to wake up (hence the strange and painful tingling sensation)  I just have to figure out what I God is calling me to do for Him...and then do it.

Which is where so many of us struggle. We get caught up in "cants" that turn out to be truly "I don't wannas" and miss the part where we are leasing time and none of us know when our time will come.

Again, I need to get this ball rolling.
