When I was younger I was quite the tattle tale. As a matter of fact, I could predict what my brother was going to do, tell on him and bring my mother or whomever to the scene of the crime right before he would do whatever it was. I am not kidding. My brother would always yell at me saying I wasn't the mom and I couldn't tell him what to do. Which was fine. I just told on him instead.
I distinctly remember one day when he and the neighbor kids went climbing in a giant (well, then it seemed giant) tree in the neighborhood. They were climbing so high that I was genuinely scared for them. I was maybe 8. I remember running home and telling my parents who didn't seem to care at all about the boys in the tree. My dad was angry with me. Angry that I had wasted his time telling on them for being careless. My punishment was sitting in an dining room chair facing out the window and having to watch all the other kids running around. I remember how angry I was. I was trying to watch out for him! I wanted to be my brother's keeper!
A while past that day mom shared with me a phrase that I am still trying to keep in mind: "What is done in the darkness will one day be brought into light."
Now that's a scary thought! That saying right there single handedly has caused more turmoil in my heart and mind than any other saying.
What mom was telling me at that particular moment and what I continue to realize everytime I hear that saying is that it's not my job to point out that someone is doing wrong. I just have to trust that God will deal with it when He wants it dealt with. And I hate that. There are so many things I want dealt with right now. But it's not my call. So... I just keep laying them at His feet and try to not pick them up.
I said try.... LOL
